So here we have the second installment to catch up on. I was landlocked away from the fishy waters with out my net for a while but now i’m back with the second catch. But unlike most when i get back on it i don’t go catching the small fry, Oh no my friend… i only haul in the best music from the depths of the untouched oceans. All nautical analogies aside (and i promise i wont jabber on anymore), here are some awesome tracks for your listening pleasure!

Jazzbit – Sing Sing Sing (Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP Remix)
A nice playful remix from Yolanda be cool & DCUP. It’s nice to see they haven’t sold out on the success of ‘we speak no Americano’ i know a lot of artists do on a lot less success. If you love this then go check out their mix for the Deadfish Podcast here

Sacha Robotti VS Stevie Wonder – Supastition
New label Klasse ran by Luca Lozano gives us their KQF001 (to you and me thats the Klasse Quick Fix 001) its a Stevie remix, and for all the crap Steve Wonder remixes out there this makes up for them in serious ways.

Popof – Blow Me Down (Original Mix)
Less Techno, more House from Popof here. He’s not as full on as he is usually known for, but a really nice ensemble of sounds and flowing groove. Really enjoying this!

Zombie Disco Squad – Hobo
This is a freebie that didn’t make the cut on the ‘Play it down 002′ release. In my opinion this should have definitely been thrown on as a third track as its getting a lot of love from the crowds! Look out for Zombie Disco Squad‘s ‘We should bang tonight’ released on Deadfish in the next few days! It’s incredible and comes with Mowgli and Solo Remixes… Zooop!

Kenton Slash Demon – Sun
A melodic and atmospheric track from Kenton Slash Demon here. This is the stuff good directors would use to soundtrack a fucking awesome film… incredible.

Tiga – Gentle Giant (Martyns Heaven Remix)
Not so much into the Future Garage or what ever genre you want to throw it into, but this is nice home listening!

Cajmere – Percolator (Major Lazer Percumajor)
The Percolator remix package part 1 is out now and you can pick it up from here. The Riva Starr and Claude Vonstroke remixes are the obvious choices to pick out for the club, but i want to look at Major Lazer‘s remix. Its simple and stripped back, but very effective and gets the club bumpin’, and it could probably be used well as a dj tool too. Bonus!

Zombie Disco Squad – We Should Bang Tonight

Nice to see a switch up in style from the ZDS boys, with Spoek dropping vocals on the track. Remixes come straight from the Deadfish camp with Mowgli and Solo working their stuff. Its going straight in my arsenal of records when its released…. but for now, lets take it back to Chicagoooo….

Glasgow1 600 Lucky Dip

Before we get into any music matters i’ve recently stumbled on ‘Insa’ again, after first reading about him in ’04 when he featured on the front of Graffitism mag. I think he’s the shit and so should you.Check out some of his stuff below or go check out his site/blog here.

Now on to the music and there is a real mix of stuff here, but feeling them all for one reason or another! All free to download so go for it!
First up is a man i can’t get enough of in the Hip Hop world right now. Loving his Album ‘Sir Lucious Left foot, son of dusty chico’ and here are two tracks off the album. The first one holds the Atlanta sound and has a classic big boi/outkast style, and though it might not sound like it on your laptop it gets pretty epic on a large system! Bang it loud.

Big Boi – Night Night (feat. B.o.B & Joi)

The Second Big Boi track is The train part II and is totally different to Night Night but still has all the ATL flavour. A smooth groove to throw on at dusk on a hot sticky summer evening, so just recoup, relax, recline….

Big Boi – The Train Part II (Sir Lucious Left Foot Save The Day) (feat. Sam Chris)

This track samples Justin Trouser snake’s (or should i say Timberlands!?) ‘My Love’ into a deep brooding disco house joint. Not sure if i’d ever play it out, but its a nice track to listen to in the comfort of your living room for sure.

Fet et Moi – Paris Is For Lovers

Heads up to Asheard.com for this one. Hackman is dubstep producer that appeared to be left behind but is now coming through strong and for good reasons. This ‘dubstep/garage/2-step track shows of his diversity as a producer well. I want to hear more from this guy, and i’m not even a dubstep fan!

Just listen to it… awesome!

Mark Henning – Sweet Atom

Finally we have Zombie Disco Squad’s Dance Do Zumbi. Its a brilliant party track for the 5 years of Man Recordings compilation and gracefully given away for free by the guys via Jackmode. Thanks!

Made to play it down

brainstormep 285x285 Made to play it down
You may think I only listen to Renaissance Man from the amount of times i’ve posted up something about them. But i would like to say that Renaissance Man’s work ethic needs applauding! It’s as if they can’t stop releasing new material, and this second release is exactly what I like about the boys. Brainstorm E.P. is the dark side in comparison to a lot of Made to Play’s cheekier releases. It has driving dark tones through out the E.P. and sees Renaissance man shy away from sampling to heavily. This E.P. has nothing but seriously good Scandinavian house joints! Brainstorm is dark track with a constant ‘flight of the bumblebees’ style horn creating and releasing tension extremely well through out. When that sound disperses however, you are left with track that ultimately gets you grooving.
The second track ‘Premier Nytes’ sees Renaissance Man return to their more playful nature. Thankfully they don’t go overboard though, and because of this we have a track with a fun and natural bounce reminiscent of an early Claude Vonstroke track.
Mindmap, the third track on the E.P. has more atmosphere to it than the previous two. A beautifully crafted piece that goes deeper and holds its own in the pecking order. Be sure to listen to them below as this is my favourite E.P. from the boys to date.

Brainstorm E.P. is released August 23rd 2010 on Made to Play. Be sure to pick up a copy when it comes out!

ZOMBIE DISCO SQUAD – KING KONG E.P.

PID002 blog 500x500 500x500 285x285 Made to play it downZombie Disco Squad have a new E.P. out on Made to play’s new label ‘Play it down‘ called the ‘King Kong E.P.’

If you are confused as to why there is a new label stemming from the Made to play camp, then let me explain. Play it down is only releasing 200 pressed vinyl copies of each e.p. with the emphasis on there being no press, no big mail outs, no hype, just tracks to chuck in your bag and play. Its a romantic thought and maybe one for the house heads to enjoy. Without a full scale assault on music fans, it means Dj’s and fans can get back to basics and play good records that aren’t necessarily rammed down our throats.

Back to the new release at hand however, and i can’t say a bad word about it. Personally I’m feeling the second track Spooks the most, but as usual its very much each to their own.
So have a little listen to the tracks below and be sure to hit up the guys on twitter here, and let them know what you think!
If you get a chance, check out the first release on Play it Down from Oliver $, you won’t be disappointed…
