 Moodtrap Old Days In Chicago

Moodtrap have built up a considerable head of steam since releasing their debut ‘Body to Body’ EP late last year. The meaty double header of ‘Make It Right’ / ‘Out Of Time’ followed in March cementing their reputation as a name to watch in 2012. The anonymous duo performed their debut live show at Fabric in London in July to a raptuous response on the dancefloor.
Moodtrap ‘Old Days In Chicago’ features a choice bluesey vocal sample and solid groove to make this track a must have in any DJ’s…. USB Key!?….

Kolombo My Own Business EP

 Kolombo My Own Business EP

Over the years we’ve seen Kolombo drop a lot of material, alot of good material. Kolombo My Own Business EP has been released on 2DIY4, which saw the labels first release come from Solomun (A must have record incase you’re thinking of checking it out). Kolombo’s ‘My Own Business EP’ samples Warren G and like a true west coast rap track, bounces from start to finish. The EP’s title track builds nicely with a solid groove, and although house has seen its far share of Hip-House recently, the vocals work perfectly. The other tracks on the EP are just as good as the title track if not better, which is refreshing as so many artists put out a one track release and call it anything but a single.

Quick Trivia: Warren G is Dr Dre’s step-brother (this information could win you a pub quiz one day)
Also here’s a taster of Zombie Disco Squad’s remix of Kolombo & Loulou players – Don’t Go Away.

Maddslinky – Compuphonic (Broadwalk 002)

 Maddslinky Compuphonic (Broadwalk 002)
The follow up to Julio Bashmore’s smash ‘Au seve’ is from Zed Bias aka Maddslinky. Compuphonic is a dark slice of tech-house excellence, and if I’m to be honest, reminds me of Azealia banks – 1991. Her flow would fit perfectly over the top. It’s available from the 9th September on Beatport.

Matt Tolfrey – Turn you out

 Matt Tolfrey Turn you out

Due to being super busy working on the Olympic Games its been an almost non existent month of posts. But all that is about to change. First things first, I have to catch up on a release that dropped two weeks ago by Matt Tolfrey. The first single off his upcoming debut album ‘Word of mouth’ is an absolute heater. It features Technotronic vocalist Ya Kid K and the Bassline has more bounce to it than a cadillac on hydrolics. Its the perfect house monster to get a party grooving. Make sure you pick up the release here.

James Pople – Who’s That Girl EP (Feast 002)

James Pople Whos That Girl EP (Feast 002)

James Pople – Who’s That Girl EP dropped the other week, and has two fine deep burners. Its a strong second release from Feast‘s new record label and with Inxec and Miguel Puente on remix duties, it isn’t an EP to be over looked any time soon. The lead in track ‘Who’s That Girl’ is a soft, vocal laced, sunrise soaked house track. On the flip side ‘Say I move you’ heats things up, with a bouncing bass groove fit for the subconcious. Before you know it your shoulders and feet are moving and you’ve yet to realise.

The true winner for me however is Inxec’s Remix of ‘Who’s That Girl’. It transforms the original track into a dance floor heater, and is perfect weaponry to have tucked away in your record bag.

Dusky – Henry 85 EP on Simple Records

Dusky Henry 85 No More e1339952261140 Dusky Henry 85 EP on Simple Records

Dusky are back with the Henry 85 EP on Simple Records. It was released last week and can be purchased here. The ‘Henry 85 EP’ contains two originals and one remix from FCL. Henry 85 is the clear winner in my opinion, though both tracks hold Dusky’s ‘sound’, ‘Henry 85′ has a far better groove and soul to it. The FCL remix is pretty decent too, definitely one to buy in its entirety.
