Somehow 50% of 2foursandand11 has already been eaten up and it’s now that amazing time of year when people begin to wear less clothes and you get to listen to music outside on a massive soundsystem in a foreign country.

However, if like me you’ve already spent all your money and can barely afford to leave the house, I’ve put together a collection of some of the best tracks that I’ve heard from the Bass, Funky and Dubstep scene in the past 6 months.

Open your curtains and enjoy…

xx box back e1324681266331 Ninja Tune XX
Being pretty lapse on the post front of late, things have been pretty hectic. But in this time a slew of releases have occurred and heres one we feel you should know about. Its Ninja Tune celebrating their 20 year anniversary with the Ninja Tune XX Box set.

For many, the beginnings of ninja tune are all about Coldcut, Dj Vadim, Mr Scruff, chill out trip hop and left field hip hop. But rather than trying to shun the present day like so many labels that have died out years ago, Ninja Tune XX presents a full spectrum of old and new a like, along with a look to the future. You’ll be mistaken to think this ’20 years of’ will all be the jazzy, sampled, vinyl crackling, melodic trip hop it started out as. Infact its far from it, with remixes and sounds that encompass everything good from the later half of the naughties. Dubstep, Future Garage, Electronica, and House remixes are in abundant, and from producers such as Diplo, Scuba, Rustie, Gaslamp Killer.

The Box set is a perfect mix of new and old, and Ninja Tune deliver the perfect balance and in no particular order.
I remember the days of listening to DJ Vadim’s Terrorist and its nice to see a label go from such trip hop, nu-jazz hip hop to the newer styles and genres without loosing its original identity. The result is the healthy sound of the label’s output for the future, and not one thats stranded in the past.

To really sample the delights of Ninja Tune XX go buy the big box set. It has things you just don’t really get with a digital download. Find out more about it here.

Night Hunter / 502

Written by . Filed under Dubstep, House, Video. No comments.

So a lot of you have probably heard the news, but if not Oneman has started up a label 502 Records, and yesterday the first release became available on digital after a big launch on wax…

You’ve probably heard this out somewhere already, and with support from a whole host of big names, Fis-T is name to watch out for, as FACT magazine put it, he’s ‘reclaimed the wobble for the good guys’. Just when you thought it wasn’t safe to reach for the LFO, a track like this comes along…

Here it is, our very own chart. You may agree with some of the tracks, you may disagree, either way we will be dropping our chart at the beginning of each month (I know its late for september already) and the tracks for you to listen to. We’re not going to throw up tracks we’ve never heard because there’s hype behind them either (i’ve caught a lot of people out doing this). So with out further a do… lets kick it off.

Justin Martin & Ardalan – Mr Spock (Buy)
This track is just straight killing it with all walks of life at the moment. For more information heres Claude Vonstrokes write up on the release.
‘At the young age of just 20 years old, Ardalan from the TCH Dolphin crew in San Jose is
quickly proving himself to be a leader in the next generation of bay area house music. Justin
Martin quickly recognized his talent when Ardalan sent him a 10 minute demo.

After one listen Justin thought the track was genius but needed some additional editing and arrangement work. He took on the project and the outcome was “Mr. Spock.”This dancefloor monster was instantly charted #1 by myself and Jesse Rose as soon as we heard it. It works. For real’

Tiga – Gentle Giant (Martyn’s Heaven rmx) (Download)
Martyn’s remix of Tiga’s Gentle giant, taken from Tiga’s album Ciao! is by far the best remix! The groove is heavily swung and laced with stabbing keys through out and is a pretty slow tempo for the likes of Martyn.

Gorge – Keya (Buy)
This track is taken from Gorge’s L.P. ‘Mood’ and is a really nice slow building house track. Check it out and then go get it here

Sebastien Phillip and Dan Caster – Drunkin’ Native (Buy)
There is a Sascha Braemer remix of this, but we personally prefer the original. It sounds very much like a Dirtybird release and will have us dancing for a very long time.

Magnetic Man – The Bug
This isn’t out till October 11th when Skream, Benga and Artwork aka Magnetic Man drop their self titled debut album on Columbia Records. Its a big track and i expect it’ll go massive.

Lorn – Cherry moon
Lorn is from the USA and this track is taken from the LP ‘Nothing Else’ which is out now on FlyLo’s Brainfeeder label.

The Jackson Five – Dancing Machine (Henrik Schwarz Remix) (Download)
I’m a sucker for the funk, and Henrik Schwarz does a nice job of remixing this. Just like his Bill wither’s remix its perfect for the early hours of a night.

The Jellies – Jive baby on a Saturday night
This is a classic from the 80′s or 90′s. It was originally a 300 limited edition vinyl pressing, and recently re-discovered by Optimo. Apparently he played it 7 times in a row at a club in NYC about 2 months ago. Its now getting re-released on Trunk Records tomorrow! (Sept 13th)

Tapesh And Maximiljan – Wide Range (Buy)
Check out the post covering their whole E.P. This track still does it for me, such a killer groove.

Toddla T – Better (Seiji’s Troubleadub) (Download)
Seiji does wonders turning this Toddla track into an old 90′s style house track, reminds me slightly of some of the old M.A.W remixes. You may find it a bit cheesy, but begin grooving to it and its sure to put a big smile on your face.

Underworld – Always loved a film

Underworld 585x585 Underworld Always loved a film
I know this has been out for a bit now, but i’ve recently realised AmpLive did a remix of it. Unfortunately its pretty bad compared to his usual stuff, which is a shame. It then led me on to remember that Solo wants everyone to know his details have changed on Beatport from Solo (uk) to Solo (Stefano Ritteri). So i thought i would throw up two remix’s of Underworld’s ‘Always loved a film’ from two producers doing their thing, and doing it well.
