Jet Project – U know/The Jam E.P.

Responsible for an impressive slate of remixes and tracks; Timmy Stewart & John McIver follow releases on Get Physical, Viva Music and Silicon Soul’s Darkroom Dubs with two outstanding structurally simple yet bass-heavy tech house cuts. This E.P. is number 10 for Snatch records and is out on beatport on the 20th December, so you wont have long to wait and get your grubby little mits all over it!

Jet Project – U Know
The conventional yet colossal, marching tech house drums on “U Know” neatly support the soulful and spacious vocal that’s lyrically driving in an entirely funky way. The guys tease tension out of the male voice with a tightly bound sub bass that lurks beneath intricate pounding drums. Despite pushing the track to the edge of sleaze, “U Know’s” piping vocal wraps the track in a warm hypnotic cloth, giving it a perfect sheen of groove while clean and snappy drums combine with eerry dram drops leaving everything quivering in anticipation of the return of the drums.

Jet Project – The Jam
With “The Jam” Jet Project take on an almost ritualistic quality with infectious spliced horns bouncing along between whispering chants and fidgety percussion full of tech-stepping dexterity.
Lil Weeeeeeezy

Hot Creations 004/005/006

Jamie Jones and Lee Foss just keep coming with incredible releases! Hot Creations 004 sees Burnski and Robert James take control and drop a two track E.P. with an additional remix from Wales’ finest, Jamie Jones.
Malibu is a nice upbeat grooving track with hints of funk and disco laced within a solid house joint. Perception is a darker and harder driven affair but yet still maintains a bounce to it. If you’re looking for a house jam with nothing but the funk, the whole funk and nothing but the funk…. then look no further. Jamie Jones’ remix of Malibu encapsulates everything a house funk record should have. A deep bass rhythm, wah sound, nice hi hat, and sultry vocals interspersed.
HOTC 005 came out recently and enters a more psychedelic disco house feel. With the remix coming from Robin Porter & Subb-an its inducing what i can only describe as deep sinister trentemoller bass beat! Really nice though. Go cop all of the HOTC releases here as they are a label that deserves to get paid.

Burnski & Robert James – Malibu (Jamie Jones Music Night Mix)
I don’t think Jamie Jones can put a foot wrong at the moment.
A christmas greeting from one friend to another
The Future Labs where a couple friends work, are showing Whitechapel isn’t all Kray’s and Ripper’s by getting some other friends who make creative things to produce them this years xmas card. So of course The future lab’s office on the back of their office dog is the first thing that comes to mind. I bloody love it!

Big Boi Vs The Black Keys
I have to pay credit where it is due and thank Tom Austen from Urchins for this one. Like the grey album (Dangermouse’s mash up of The Beatle’s White Album and Jay-Z The Black Album) Wick-it has mashed up Big Boi and The Black Keys and with great effect. Normally I hate on Mash ups but i have to give this my seal of approval. Maybe its just because i’m a sucker for anything with Big Boi on the vocals… who knows, who cares, just enjoy.
