FooD 1 Post Musical Intro: DdP

I’m a new contributer to Fresh Out Of Death, I go by DdP – or The Diamond Cutter, for reasons best known to Teddy! There’s a fair bit of music that I’ll be shaking out of my sleave from now on and I’m properly looking forward to getting to grips with all this! Now I’m gonna let the music do the talking…

First up is a track that a friend of mine plays everytime i’ve seen him DJ – and for good reason – but everytime i’ve asked for the track ID it’s been forgotten along with the vital 2 pints of water i should have drunk before falling asleep, ouch! However, last saturday at WhErEhOuSe?, I had my wits about me and typed it into my phone. Success!

Dub Taylor – Clicktrap (Two.Birds)  Purchase

Next is a track that really gets the dancefloor going! The bouq. label head and two-time Beatport Awards nominee delivers a superb track which stays true to its releasing label.

Butch – No Worries (Cecille)  Purchase

Officially this next one is ‘Electro House’, but I don’t know what’s going on here… With elements of dub, funky and ridiculous bass this wildcard comes courtesy of inspired remix work by Wildcat. Considering the original is from 1991, its not something you’d expect to hear on an EP whose main remixes are by Kevin Saunderson!

I’m sure the Festival was immense, but this is a nice animation/musical tune that is done to some mesmerising visuals… Enjoy

clever girl e1285880656431 The Diamond Cutter Delivers

Firstly, props to The Diamond Cutter for these. Secondly, there will be a bunch of new contributors soon. That means even more music to sink your teeth into. Just like a velociraptor to a cow being craned in…… “Clever Girl”.
Some absolutely amazing tracks I’ve picked up recently and heres just six of them. The first two are on a nice upbeat tip, that really drive the dance floor forward for entirely different reasons. There’s Joris Voorn’s latest remix of Samuel L.Session’s ‘Can you relate’, which is a lot harder than his more playful old remix of Phuture by Harry Choo Choo Romero!
Matt Tolfrey and Chris Sylvester aka Inxec, released a track a while back called ‘I just can’t (take it)’ that had a bueatiful rolling bassline to it, and an incredible build up and release. You should definately either go buy this remix of theirs or their track I just can’t. This leads me on to the cheeky Phil Weeks soul plane remix, which samples some hood girl chattering ‘you go girl… go shorty’. A guilty pleasure to the track if i have to be honest. Good stuff, and as always, support these artists and buy their music here

Our man Spam Chop is taking Wigflex to the masses of Manchester with an incredible line up. If you’re from Manchester go support a night that has spawned out of something special, and if you’re from Nottingham get on a train, bus, plane, bike, unicycle, or crawl over to Manchester for the night. Motor City Drum Ensemble is awesome. I think i’ve said everything i need to…

Check out the new Dirtybird E.P called Bad Blood. Claude Vonstroke makes it well known he listens to every demo sent to him and this release is a prime example of two great tracks plucked from the demo pile! A couple of hidden gems kicking it in a sea of music. Have a listen to the two tracks then go cop them over at beatport

OutKastBigBoi 585x501 Sir Lucious Left foot / Foamo

So Big Boi of Outkast acclaim drops his long awaited debut album on July 6th and I can’t wait. But hold up, Andre 3000 doesn’t feature on any of the tracks on teh album!?? why you ask? It’s all because of record company nonsense. More on the matter can be found here. In brief the reason being is OutKast are signed to Jive, Big boi’s album is coming out on Def Jam, and Jive don’t want what will appear to be an OutKast track making the final cut of Big boi’s Debut. Anyway thankfully for us, he’s saving some of the tracks he’s done with Andre and dropping them on the next OutKast album! Here’s one of the tracks that didn’t make the final cut of Big Boi’s album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty

A date for your diary

Summer time in Nottingham is usually a pretty dry season when it comes to music. Everywhere either closes or puts nothing that interesting on. So the one time when I’m not here because I couldn’t bear to endure a shit summer, someone goes and puts on this…
