I have a monster post of tracks to post up in a little while, for now check these brilliant video’s out, Real nice.
So i’ve started to notice a lot of female vocals coming through on house tracks recently. I know vocals have always been used, cut up, manipulated etc since the dawn of time, but i can’t help feel like this has increased and an influx of these kind of tracks has hit us in time for summer. Maybe this is all a lie and I just keep coming across these types of tracks by chance, or maybe i’m actively searching them out…. who knows!
But in all honesty though, any of the tracks below dropped at the right moments in the night can work exceptionally well. I saw such good timing of this when Mowgli dropped his remix of ‘Just won’t do’ by Tim Deluxe/Analog people in a digital world at about 3:30 in the morning and it just spurred the crowd on.
They are not for everyone I have to admit, but i’m loving the Derrick Carter mo’bushes remix! Go pick up any of these over at Beatport
Crookers – Royal T ft. Roisin Murphy (Riva Starr Vocal Remix)
Tim Deluxe, Anolog people in a digital world – Just Won’t Do feat. Sam Obernik (Mowgli Remix)

Mastiksoul – Taking Me Hi
Mowgli & Tara Mcdonald – Can’t Stop Singing (Gramophonedzie Club Remix)

Finally, Because we’re on the topic of females i thought you’d like to watch this:

New Stuff from LCD Soundsystem. The 9 track, 3rd and reportedly last studio album called ‘This is Happening’ is no let down either. It has all the accessibility to swim in the mainstream with tracks like ‘Drunk Girls’ yet all the classic LCD style (however you want to categorize that). Hopefully there will be plenty of decent remixes emerging from the album, i’m sure soulwax will jump on one!
Have a listen to the ‘This is Happening’ album below, obviously not putting it all up for download as you should go buy it here.

Holy Ghost! have a new E.P. out called ‘Static on the wire’ and its a master piece of disco. I’ve never really understood why they don’t get more exposure in the UK, especially after seeing how well Aeroplane have done. Anyway back to the tracks at hand, Static on the wire is a real upbeat groove record with ‘say my name’ on a bit more of a reflective down tempo tip. There is even the ‘I will come back’ track which i believe may have been put out earlier this year in Feb with a bunch of remixes from the likes of DJ Mehdi on. All of these cower in comparison to my personal favourite of ‘I know i hear’. Amazing! Look out for Holy Ghost’s album coming very soon…..
To be frank I don’t know much about either artists. I do know Manare has an E.P. out called Speakeasy however, and i suggest you go pick up a copy as its pretty good, and Lazy Flow have done a remix of it! Word to Gutter Broadcast for the scott cooper find. it’s niiiiice. I’m too hungry to say anything more…

It’s Monday, i’ve got a million House tracks I want you to check out soon, but until that post arrives kick back with some classics.
Also check out the iconic hip hop album covers that have been re-worked with none other than those pesky lego men. As much as Lego is getting everywhere these days, i have to admit some of these are brilliant. check out the other covers below!
I know you’re probably sick to death of I was drunk remixes by now, but in all honesty i don’t know why Shooting Horses aka Rob Swain didn’t throw this about earlier. Its a good remix and his own track Jungle People is more of a house jump up type affair. Have to show the man some love, after all he studied in Nottingham for 3 years!
Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts 2nd long player ‘breaking the forth wall’ is incredible. I have no other words for it.
The album is a mixture of jazzy, housey, and completely beatless ambient tracks, with some perfect for the dancefloor and others for just listening to at home. Both being just as enjoyable to listen to in either environment.
Hailing from Montreal, Canada, but now living in Berlin, Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts playing everywhere, and if like me you live in the UK then it might be worth getting up to leeds on July 17th for back to basics.
The following track off the album ‘can’t have everything’ was co-produced with the french trio ‘dOP’, which would explain its beautiful organic groove. On the real though you have to check out the full album for all its glory. Oh and listen to this with some good speakers as there’s some nice subtle bassy bits that kick in!

The two Finnish Ex-architects turned producers have done themselves proud with the cheeky ‘Babbadabba’ and even have a couple of remixes of Solo’s ‘Afreaka’ and The Very Best’s ‘Nsokoto’ coming out soon too. If you are wondering who ‘The very best’ are then i can happily tell you its those remixing dons Radioclit and Esau Mwamwaya. If you want to know more about this project then check out the brilliant review over at pitchfork here Renaissance Man’s Babbadabba E.P. is out on May 24th, so go get yourself a copy.
Here is the mini-mix Renaissance Man have put together with their two new remixes in the latter half.
X-Rays, The XX and sampled Dre Vocals, three excellent items. First up is Nick Veasey…
From A Boeing 747 to the mini cooper, Brit artist and X-ray boffin Nick Veasey has captured them all. Veasey uses a cargo scanner to make the images, some of which cost thousands of pounds to produce. Some amazing photos…. check them out here
